Continuing the series of scientific programs organized in collaboration with Relisys, HDN Investment Joint Stock Company recently held another successful scientific workshop at the Cardiovascular Center of E Hospital, Vietnam.
On May 7, the scientific symposium titled “Latest Innovations in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)”, co-organized by HDN and Relisys Medical Devices, attracted the participation of numerous cardiologists, interventional specialists, and healthcare professionals.
During the program, HDN and Relisys introduced the VIENNA Transcatheter Aortic Valve System, a next-generation self-expanding biological aortic valve developed by Relisys (India). The technology received highly positive feedback and active discussion from attending physicians and experts. Currently, VIENNA represents a unique innovation in both the global and Vietnamese markets, exclusively distributed in Vietnam by HDN.
The symposium also included a live product demonstration and in-depth discussions regarding the valve’s mechanism, clinical indications, and procedural advantages. HDN sincerely appreciates the valuable contributions and participation of professors, doctors, and healthcare experts. The TAVI technology is expected to be introduced into clinical practice in Vietnam this year, contributing significantly to cardiovascular treatment outcomes.
An Advanced Solution for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement
The VIENNA Aortic Valve SE is a next-generation self-expanding biological aortic valve system specifically designed for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation/Replacement (TAVI/TAVR) procedures. Featuring a modern supra-annular design combined with an optimized self-expanding Nitinol frame, the system enhances post-implant hemodynamic performance, ensures effective annular sealing, and minimizes the risk of paravalvular leakage following intervention.
One of VIENNA’s most distinctive innovations is its proprietary Dry Tissue Technology, utilizing dry bovine pericardial tissue, together with a pre-mounted valve design that allows immediate readiness for use in the catheterization laboratory. This innovation helps reduce procedural preparation time, streamline workflow efficiency, and enhance procedural safety for both patients and interventional cardiology teams.
Flexible Recapture and Repositioning Capability
The system is integrated with advanced recapture, repositioning, and retrieval capabilities during deployment, enabling physicians to achieve more precise valve placement. Its large open-cell frame design also facilitates future coronary access, making it especially suitable for complex clinical scenarios such as:
- Bicuspid Aortic Valve cases
- Valve-in-Valve procedures
- Patients requiring future coronary interventions
In addition, the straight sealing zone structure combined with an external skirt improves annular sealing performance. It significantly reduces the risk of paravalvular leakage, thereby supporting better long-term clinical outcomes.
Enhancing Long-Term Durability with Proprietary Dry Tissue Technology
VIENNA’s proprietary Dry Tissue Technology marks a major advancement in bioprosthetic heart valve development, helping improve long-term valve durability and functional performance after implantation. By preserving the natural collagen structure of bovine pericardial tissue while maintaining the integrity of the cellular matrix, the valve leaflets retain excellent flexibility and stability under continuous cardiovascular stress conditions.
The valve leaflets are also optimized with a thinner profile while maintaining superior mechanical strength, improving hemodynamic efficiency without compromising structural integrity. Studies have additionally demonstrated that dry tissue technology significantly reduces calcium deposition on valve leaflets compared to conventional biological tissue technologies, thereby supporting extended valve lifespan and sustained long-term performance.
Meaningful Benefits for Patients
As a minimally invasive solution, the VIENNA Aortic Valve SE is particularly suitable for patients with severe aortic stenosis, elderly patients, individuals with multiple comorbidities, or patients presenting moderate-to-high surgical risk for open-heart surgery.
The technology offers several key clinical benefits, including:
- Shorter recovery time
- Improved post-procedural hemodynamics
- Reduced procedural invasiveness
- Enhanced quality of life for patients
With its distinctive and proprietary features, the VIENNA self-expanding bioprosthetic valve is expected to become a significant advancement in the field of interventional cardiology and contribute positively to the treatment of patients with valvular heart disease in Vietnam.
